Other People In Japan

Some of the other people with weblogs in Japan. I hate the word blog, but I guess writing regularly consistent diary-type entries constitutes one. Anyway, some of these people are mates, others I've just come across searching for other stuff. It's always interesting to hear other people's perspectives of this mega-bizarro/amazing country.
  • Matt Magain's Opinios site.
  • Jenr is another ALT here in Yokohama.
  • Kim Fielding's 35C. Damn funny. She's psychic, too. All the funny stuff I want to write about, she beats me to it.
  • Gregg has a blog about living in Tokyo - he's the rare breed of Westerner who's not an English teacher.
  • James Wong's strangely-named Statement of Agreement has some great pictures.
  • Jean Snow's nej.
  • Andy Gray's Japan Window.

General Japan Info

The touristy-type info - what to see, how to get around. Useful up to a point, but don't follow the guidebook too much.

Japan Perspectives

  • Captain Japan's Sake-Drenched Postcards.
  • I wish I could take photographs half as distinctive as Anatol. His photos of Japan are incredible.

Places within Japan

  • Info and links for our prefecture, Kanagawa
  • The city of Machida, where Andrew works

Food in Japan

  • The Tokyo Food Page, including a recipe for homemade natto! Natto is probably the most disgusting food ever made. Its the Japanese version of Vegemite (i.e. great for forcing on unsuspecting foreigners).

Getting Around

  • Tokyo Subway Map. We live three stations from Kikuna (A3), so it takes us about 30 minutes to get to Shibuya.
  • If you're using public transport within Japan, Hyperdia tells you how to get there, and how long it'll take. There is an English link from the front page.
