EPIC FAIL
This week, all week, has been one facepalm moment after another at work.

If I had a little bit more perspective through distance, I'd be laughing so hard, but right in the middle of it, it's frustrating as anything.

Our friend CC's just recently returned from a year overseas in London and HK, so we went out for a group dinner with our friends last night to Sumalee Thai at Bank Hotel in Newtown.
Was very jealous to hear of how she's spending her days since her return... lazing around at home, sleeping in until 11... and she's even got a contract job lined up already.
Kathleen went in the City2Surf today (walking, not jogging, but still 14km is not to be sneezed at) with Lu and Denzil and some of their friends.
She was lining up in the last group (the group that isn't ultra-serious about finishing first) for a 9.30am start that got delayed to 9.45, when the announcement came over the speakers that the first person had already finished! Before her group had even started!
She ended up with a time that she was unhappy with, even at walking pace, and reckons the times are just plain wrong.
I had to go in to work, and passed a few people giving themselves a target time - by feeding the meter at their car spot in the city, looking at their watch as if to say "Yeah, I can make it back here by then..." Hope they made it before the parking inspector!
I've had this damn cough and sore throat for almost a week now... had to take Wed and Thur off from work because of it.
Recovery wasn't helped having to conduct a training course for six people on Friday. My voice came over all coarse and husky at around 4pm, and by 9 that night, I'd lost my voice.
We even went out for dinner last night, and ordering with no voice was certainly... interesting for all involved.
So its Olympics fever at the moment. Coles at Chatswood Chase are joining in the spirit of the Olympic movement, with national flags from around the world on every cash register and checkout aisle.
The Australian flag, you ask? Why, of course, here it is. Larger than all others, naturally.
And its location? Well, where else would it be? Right here, magnificently framing the massive cigarette display. At the other end of the cigarette display, the two flags forming a natural bookend to the cancer area of the supermarket area is, of course, the Aboriginal flag.
Go Straya!! You're all class!
Talk about lucky.
All week the greyshirts (also known as CityRail ticket inspectors) have been at Town Hall station in the morning, looking for anyone whose ticket has expired or who has forgotten to buy a ticket, so they can fine them. Ka-ching!
As a result, the CityRail staff actually watch the gates, rather than leave them wide open for everyone to walk through, ticket or not, while they stand around and talk to each other.
My ticket expires on Thursday, and I forgot to buy a replacement on Friday morning. It wasn't until I got to Town Hall and went to put it through the gate that I realised.
The greyshirts weren't on duty that day, so I could walk out through the open gate (as the staff gave a cursory glance) and buy a new ticket. If the greyshirts had been on, I would have copped a $150 fine just for being forgetful.
The staff have actually been instructed by their union not to challenge people with no tickets on safety grounds due to a fear of being assaulted.
Friday
Drinks and ramen at World Square with the usual suspects, as well as Darise, up from Melbourne (via Hobart) for a work conference.
Saturday
Brunch at Billi's on Blues Point Rd
Dinner with the usual suspects at Sass in Erko. Chosen partly because the menu looked good (slow roasted pork belly!) as we were walking past, partly because it was on the way to...
Theatresports at Enmore Theatre in Newtown
Sunday
Photography excursion around Koreatown and Chinatown with Denzil, finally learning how to use some of the manual control features of the SLR.
