Footy

AFL Grand Final at the Clubhouse in Shinjuku - probably the best since'89. It was wall-to-wall Australians, and VB, Crowns, and some not-very-cold Cascade Premiums were on hand (for a rather princely 700Y each - or just over $10).

Sumo

Takanohana

The Autumn Sumo Tournament has just finished, with Somoan-born Musashimaru beating Takenohana in the final bout. The bouts were televised each day from 3pm - 6pm, which meant we watched the last houror so each day. Although the fights are often over in a matter of seconds, watching some of the close fights was great.

This was Takenohana's comeback tournament, after sitting out the last 18months with a knee injury. Before that, he was virtually unstoppable, sortof like Monica Seles before she got attacked by that guy with the knife.

Musashimaru outweighed him by almost 100 kilos - 237kg to 149kg, so the final was a bit of a one-horse race.

About

andrewandkathleen was meant to be a place to chuck our photos and diaries of our time in Japan. Since then it's transformed into a way of letting our friends and family know what we've been up to!

We've been together since high school, married since 2005. We've travelled and lived in different cities and different countries and are now trying to work out whether we're settling down or having a rest!
